1992 Eagle Talon TSi AWD

| My first drag race. The weather at Rock Falls raceway started at 30f going up to 45f by the end of the runs. Wind was very slight. First two runs were at street boost setup @ 17psi with 92 street gas mixed with mostly 106 octane unleaded. After that I poured in 5 gallons of 119 octane leaded and turned up the boost to 24psi and leaned out the SAFC to about -20% across all the rpm ranges. Lowered my rear air pressure to 28 psi and my front to 30 psi. Set my AGX's to 4 in the front and 1 in the rear(read the dial wrong). I could not believe how much faster these cars are compared to most of the modified V8's out there. Overall, a fantastic experience. Only war wound was when I blew off my upper intercooler pipe... got a small dent on my hood. Learned a lot about how to launch and when to shift. My goal was 12.99 but I attained a 12.64! :-) | |||||||

| My second drag race. The weather at Rock Falls raceway started at 40f going up to 45f by the end of the runs. Wind was 15 to 30mph. I poured in 5 gallons of 119 octane leaded and turned up the boost to 27psi and leaned out the SAFC to about -23% across all the rpm ranges. Lowered my rear air pressure to 18 psi and my front to 20 psi. Set my AGX's to 4 in the front and 8 in the rear. Strangely I lost reverse for the rest of the day but it came back after letting the car cool down for 5 hours. A few weeks after these runs I installed the RRE FMIC. Shooting for mid 12's next time! | |||||||
| Date | Time | R/T | 60 ft | 330 | 1/8 | 1/4 | MPH |
| 5/13/00 | 9:18 | 0.950 | 1.884 | 5.421 | 9.251 | 14.918 | 95.920 |
| Missed third - grinded it for what seemed to be forever. | |||||||
| 5/13/00 | 9:28 | 0.911 | 1.830 | 5.311 | 8.147 | 12.682 | 108.870 |
| Best quarter of the day. Not the best 60ft though, 12.5's possible if I just get it altogether. | |||||||
| 5/13/00 | 9:52 | 0.881 | 1.978 | 5.455 | 8.325 | 12.912 | 106.150 |
| Tried higher rpm shift points… definitely not as good as 6200 or even 6000 rpm. | |||||||
| 5/13/00 | 10:09 | 0.764 | 1.798 | 5.482 | 8.476 | 13.146 | 104.950 |
| Good 60ft, but again shifted too high | |||||||
| 5/13/00 | 10:25 | 0.804 | 1.951 | 5.658 | 8.599 | 13.228 | 107.140 |
| Weird, brought the shift points down, got the mph up, but the time just wasn't good | |||||||
| 5/13/00 | 11:05 | 0.759 | 1.854 | 5.461 | 8.385 | 12.965 | 108.090 |
| Good run with better shift points but it seemed to bog a bit from 3rd to 4th | |||||||
| 5/13/00 | 11:33 | 1.148 | 1.760 | 5.266 | 8.124 | 12.685 | 109.230 |
| Great run… record 60ft. | |||||||
| 5/13/00 | 12:12 | 0.631 | 1.919 | 5.532 | 8.399 | 12.962 | 109.460 |
| Not the best launch but everything else was good. Record mph. | |||||||
| 5/13/00 | 2:02 | 0.901 | 2.441 | 6.082 | 8.919 | 13.431 | 109.390 |
| 1st ever bracket. I wasn't asleep at the line, I was dead. Bogged the launch@2k rpm. | |||||||
| My third drag race. The weather at Rock Falls raceway 85 to 90 degrees and very humid. FMIC was installed, put in 5 gallons of 119 octane leaded. Lowered my rear air pressure to 18 psi and my front to 20 psi. Set my AGX's to 4 in the front and 8 in the rear. Removed the front headlight, removed the passenger and rear seats. I was determined to go below 12.5's. By the third run, my EGT's never got above 1400f so I still had a lot of room to gain power by leaning it out much more, but clutch/tranny problems prevented it. New clutch and rebuilt tranny here I come! | |||||||
| Date | Time | R/T | 60 ft | 330 | 1/8 | 1/4 | MPH |
| 6/10/00 | 10:00 | 0.565 | 2.066 | 5.709 | 8.789 | 13.460 | 103.920 |
| Spun the tires, SAFC too rich, EGT's too low, boost too low at 20psi | |||||||
| 6/10/00 | 11:15 | 0.727 | 2.128 | 5.868 | 8.896 | 13.542 | 104.330 |
| Bogged the launch, Still too rich, EGT's too low, boost up to 22psi | |||||||
| 6/10/00 | 11:33 | 0.948 | 1.734 | 5.289 | 8.242 | 13.018 | 99.340 |
| Still too rich. 5500rpm launch. Tires must have finally warmed up… Best ever 60 ft. | |||||||
| Would have been a 12.7 run had it not been for the clutch going south and me letting off. | |||||||
| EGT's still only up to 1400f. Boost set to 23psi. A few more runs and I'd have gotten | |||||||
| it dialed into a 12.5 or better. Next time!!! | |||||||

| Installed the Al Blaha MAS Mod. Increases air flow by 25%, no airflow restriction, |
| no fuel cut and the MAS losing counts and causing ECU knock is gone for good! |
| Installed Extreme Technologies Upper Intercooler Pipe |
| Installed the RRE FMIC which has a 18" x 6" Griffin core with Spearco endtanks. |
