1992 Eagle Talon TSi AWD






My first drag race.  The weather at Rock Falls raceway started at 30f going up to 45f by the end of the runs.  Wind was very slight.  First two runs were at street boost setup @ 17psi with 92 street gas mixed with mostly 106 octane unleaded.  After that I poured in 5 gallons of 119 octane leaded and turned up the boost to 24psi and leaned out the SAFC to about -20% across all the rpm ranges.  Lowered my rear air pressure to 28 psi and my front to 30 psi.  Set my AGX's to 4 in the front and 1 in the rear(read the dial wrong).  I could not believe how much faster these cars are compared to most of the modified V8's out there.  Overall, a fantastic experience.  Only war wound was when I blew off my upper intercooler pipe... got a small dent on my hood.  Learned a lot about how to launch and when to shift.  My goal was 12.99 but I attained a 12.64!  :-)

My second drag race.  The weather at Rock Falls raceway started at 40f going up to 45f by the end of the runs.  Wind was 15 to 30mph.  I poured in 5 gallons of 119 octane leaded and turned up the boost to 27psi and leaned out the SAFC to about -23% across all the rpm ranges.  Lowered my rear air pressure to 18 psi and my front to 20 psi.  Set my AGX's to 4 in the front and 8 in the rear.  Strangely I lost reverse for the rest of the day but it came back after letting the car cool down for 5 hours.  A few weeks after these runs I installed the RRE FMIC.  Shooting for mid 12's next time!

1st ever bracket.  I wasn't asleep at the line, I was dead.  Bogged the launch@2k rpm.
               
My third drag race.  The weather at Rock Falls raceway 85 to 90 degrees and very humid.  FMIC was installed, put in 5 gallons of 119 octane leaded.  Lowered my rear air pressure to 18 psi and my front to 20 psi.  Set my AGX's to 4 in the front and 8 in the rear.  Removed the front headlight, removed the passenger and rear seats.  I was determined to go below 12.5's.  By the third run, my EGT's never got above 1400f so I still had a lot of room to gain power by leaning it out much more, but clutch/tranny problems prevented it.  New clutch and rebuilt tranny here I come!

Still too rich.  5500rpm launch.  Tires must have finally warmed up…  Best ever 60 ft.
Would have been a 12.7 run had it not been for the clutch going south and me letting off.
EGT's still only up to 1400f.  Boost set to 23psi.  A few more runs and I'd have gotten
it dialed into a 12.5 or better.  Next time!!!
               
Intake
K&N Air Filter Installed
Cut up the air can using a dremel tool, now the air filter is 90% exposed but is retained
securely. Also sanded and painted it gloss black
Silencer and Lower Honeycomb Removed from MAS
Installed the Al Blaha MAS Mod.  Increases air flow by 25%, no airflow restriction,
no fuel cut and the MAS losing counts and causing ECU knock is gone for good!
Installed Extreme Technologies Upper Intercooler Pipe
Installed the RRE FMIC which has a 18" x 6" Griffin core with Spearco endtanks.
This intercooler flows bottom to top giving very low pressure drop

Fuel Delivery
Installed Extreme Technologies In-Tank Fuel Pump
Unit has much higher flow than the stock unit (75 gals/hour vs 48 gals/hour)
Re-wired fuel pump with 10 gauge wire giving the new fuel pump 14v as opposed to just 12v
New style SAFC fuel computer
RC Engineering RC-550 Injectors installed replacing ND-550's (caused rough idle)
 
Turbo
Installed an Extreme Boost Controller (XBC)
Installed upgraded 16G Turbo with 7cm housing (Turbo and O2 housing Ported)
Crushed BOV to intake nipple.  Boost can be set up to 27 psi
Installed HKS turbo timer

Replaced the 3 electrolytic capacitors in the ECU since the car is 7 years old - the old ones
weren't leaking... but better safe than sorry
